A Taste of the Basics

We are getting so excited for our Basics Workshop coming up in July!! If you haven't had a chance to hear the details of this fun workshop, we would love to fill you in on all the excitement:

The Basics Workshop is the first introduction workshop for kids interested in photography. We will be introducing the kids to all kinds of creative understanding with fun projects and daily tasks they are encouraged to complete by the next class meeting.

On the first day, the kids will receive a customized booklet that outlines all of the photo info they will learn over the course of the two week workshop. This will be a guide for these young photographers as they embark on their photo journey. We will also be creating an actual Camera Obscura to introduce the history of photography!

On day two, we will discuss setting up shots, details on what to look for while shooting and the most important concept of LIGHT! After all, that is what photography is - "light drawing"! Each day will present a new and exciting way of learning the concepts and understanding the art behind photography.

Day three we will find the "story" behind the photos. "What story does this photo tell you?" and "What story are you wanting to tell with your photo"? These are important questions that every photographer must ask themselves. Photographers must see the world in a different way!

Our fourth and final day focuses on the discussion and questions that everyone will have in regards to all they've learned. We will expand on finding the extraordinary in the ordinary and all the FUN that comes with the world of photography!

This workshop is eight hours of fun filled with presentations, projects, hands on experience and tons of information all geared to expand their knowledge of photography and give them a good starting point. We look forward to the encouragement and education we feel we can provide and hope that your kids will walk away from it feeling more confidence within themselves and their abilities behind the camera.

Best,
Lauren and Michelle
